Every weekend you can enjoy a trip to the Vancouver Farmers Market, 6th and Esther, on the west edge of Esther Short Park. It is Southwest Washington’s #1 visitor attraction. More than 250 local vendors join to make our “always fresh, always local” farmers market the second-largest in the state of Washington. Bring the family and the family pets to make the market a memorable and relaxing part of your weekend. Open Saturday and Sunday, March to October.
Six to Sunset Concert Series
In July and August, you can take in Six to Sunset Concert Series, a six-pack of free outdoor concerts in Esther Short Park with seating on a first come, first served basis. Thousands turn out to absorb the splendid Northwest summer nights, where friends and family bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy two- hour concerts. Food and beverage options from down- town’s unique eateries surround the venue. VDA’s First Friday Downtown
Creativity is on display everywhere at the monthly VDA First Friday Downtown event. The welcome mat is rolled out throughout our city center at this free event the first Friday of each month. Browse galleries and merchants hosting artists, enjoy live music, and take in various receptions and open houses. Independence Day at Fort Vancouver
Experience history while witnessing one of the largest fireworks
displays in the West at the Fort Vancouver Historic Reserve.
The half-century tradition attracts 65,000 people and includes
day long musical entertainment, fort tours and a children’s parade.
Downtown Vancouver is home to two marathons along with many other outdoor athletic events and competitions. The Vancouver USA Marathon in june is a USA Track and Field certified course and a Boston Marathon qualifier, attracting 5,000 participants. It includes a half-marathon, 5K, kids marathon, and walkers, and begins and ends at Esther Short Park. Meanwhile, the Girlfriends Half-Marathon in October uni es women to support breast cancer research. Around 3,500 participants are treated to chocolate and massages after crossing the finish line. The course begins and ends at NW Personal Training, lOll Broadway.
Recycled Arts Festival
Who knew trash could be so fun? The Recycled Arts Festival is a June weekend event attracting thousands to Esther Short Park to see trash become treasures. Artists create their works from at least 75 percent recycled or reused materials. Each masterpiece has signs explaining its origins and is for sale after the event. Enjoy an eclectic mix of music and family fun, including a curious Tossed and Found experience to see what people discard, hosted by Clark County Environmental Services.
