First Friday Downtown

The best day of the month is First Friday! Our city center is filled with creativity, your friends, great art, great food, options, and inspiration. Come down and explore! Here’s your guide and map to the evening’s event. This event is sponsored by Vancouver’s Downtown Association. Participating businesses who have invested in VDA are noted on the HOT SHEET. Have fun!

Anstine Gallery

Fabric art works created by Sharon Svec will be on exhibit in the Anstine Sixth Floor Gallery through August. The gallery is open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except weekends and holidays. The free event is sponsored by the Clark County Arts Commission.

Don’t miss Aurora Gallery’s annual Art in the Heart Show and SALE! Aurora Gallery artist’s will fill the gallery with art specials for collectors of all types! And, Aurora’s semi-annual framing specials will run the month of August as well.

Both the upper and lower levels will be packed with art! Upstairs, you will find “Systems Meet Chaos – Art in the Family”, an art exhibition featuring love syndicated political cartoonist and local artist Monte Wolverton, and his artist daughter Monika Spykerman. The lower level will showcase work by artists 18 and younger. This awesome exhibit is a first time offering by Boomerang. We hope that it will grow into an annual event. And…treats are sponsored by Vancouver’s Downtown Association!

Clark County Historical Museum

Open 5-9 pm admission waived. Hosting Darina Neyret portraits for the night. Darina is a certified photographic artist and a realist. She will have a selection of images available as well as information on scheduling a photo shoot.

Gallery 360

VDA Investor

Gallery 360 is presenting a unique collection of artistic quilts by Cathryn Zeleny who is from the Olympic Peninsula. Their intricate undulating and overlapping natural form are inspired by her sketches and paintings. Zeleny’s work is exhibited internationally and featured in several publications. Our featured artist for August is gallery member and president Judith Howard who is a watercolor and acrylic painter. Meet the artists at the opening reception on First Friday and revisit the exhibit from 7/31 to 8/27.

Susan Williams is an award-winning, local photographer specializing in iconic imagery of Europe and the US. She is a long-standing member of Gallery 360.

Siren Salon

Features the award winning work of Susan Marmolejo Kipp, who is also a member of Gallery 360. Kipp’s intuitive paintings are inspired by travels by travels, the environs of the Pacific Northwest and by her Mexican-American heritage.

Oh man! Artist Todd Stephens has an amazing 7 foot tall portrait of Jimi Hendrix. Don’t miss this. Also, Nolan Jameson has captured some of the most beautiful parts of the PNW in his photos and transferred them on to canvas. They’re just amazing pictures. 3PM-2AM.

Vancouver Community Library

The library is pleased to host Pamela Harmon, Lesley Faulds, David Cavner, Dolores Erickson, Annette Jackson, and Abbie Dick. The exhibit will continue through Monday August 7th. First Friday hours 5-8:30PM.
