This summer the Esther Building Art Space will feature two exhibitions: The Seasons are Changing with oil paintings by Rachel Aponte and Elemental, a collection of prints by Jenn Feeney.
July 8 @ 8:00 am - August 31 @ 5:00 pm
Displayed on the first floor of the space is Rachel Aponte’s The Seasons are Changing, a series of four portraits, each with a limited color pallet representing stages of life and the constantly changing nature of all things. Rachel Aponte’s portraits are masterfully done in classical techniques. The female figures of the seasons are graceful and strong. Aponte often links human forms to the natural world. In these paintings too her figures blend with the land, the sky, and the plants forms around them acknowledging how interconnected we are with the world around us.
Elemental, a series of Jenn Feeney’s Monotype prints are on the second floor of the space. Each print is a unique work of art created through a process of painting with ink on plexiglass and transferring the image to paper. Her technique is one of experimenting with the way the inks blend and react to each other, how they bleed with solvents, layer, and transform with each pass through the printing press. Many of her prints are done on round plate, giving them the feeling of being a microscope or telescope view; something not otherwise visible to the human eye.
