Tickets now on Sale for Magenta Theater’s Production of “Curtain Up!”
June 7 @ 7:30 pm - June 22 @ 7:30 pm
Magenta Theater’s third show of its 17th season will be presented June 7-22, 2019.
“Curtain Up!” is a comedy by Peter Quilter about five women who inherit equal shares in a dilapidated theater and plan to bring it back to life again. The women try various fund-raising schemes but their most ambitious is to hold a concert featuring local talent and a world-famous star, who agrees to appear for no fee! However, their plans go awry and it’s a race against time to keep their audience from guessing the truth of the matter! This is a fast-paced and very funny comedy with five great roles for women. The production is directed by Keri Pedersen and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Ltd. The action takes place in a derelict British theater in the 1980’s.
Lighting Director, Tom Hubbard, and Set Designer, Duane Peterson, were amused at the prospect of having to make Magenta’s stage look ‘dilapidated’ after all the work having been put into a real-life restoration of the space over the past couple of years. And while the new LED lighting system was debuted at the recent Black Chair Project “Present Laughter” this main stage show will truly demonstrate the system’s capabilities! (No pressure, there!)
Performances are: June 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 at 7:30 pm, and June 15 and 22 at 2 pm.
