Impact of Volunteerism
Vancouver benefits from the good work and love of thousands of volunteers. They organize events, feed the hungry, help others find their way, celebrate culture, paint and hide rocks for big and little to find, spread some joy, please flowers and trees, pull ivy and weeds, deliver meal to our seniors, adopt-a-park, write a grant, find stolen cars, teach us to garden, fix our broken toaster, deliver our neighborhood newsletters, advocate for our children, help small businesses succeed, advocate for our children, walk a dog, build a home…. what is it our volunteers haven’t done?
About Lee Coulthard
Lee, a retired James River executive, and his wife Patricia were ready for a new life away from a large house with a large yard and too many tasks. They were longing for an urban, walkable experience and chose downtown Vancouver. They purchased a condo and settled in. Before long, Lee realized that he could help our city center become ‘that place’ that he wanted to call home. He became a highly visible thoroughly engaged downtowner….making everything better where he was. Yes, some of that would be considered ‘yard work’. Highly invested and passionate about his new neighborhood, his fingerprints are everywhere.
