Community Innovation Lab: Reimagining Downtown Vancouver, WA
This week, Vancouver byUS, the minds behind VanTalks, hosted the Community Innovation Lab—a two-day collaborative event designed to spark bold ideas and innovative solutions for revitalizing downtown Vancouver, WA. Sponsored by the Vancouver Downtown Association, the event brought together creatives, dreamers, and visionaries to rethink how our downtown spaces can be more vibrant, engaging, and reflective of our unique community.
A Movement by US, for US
The Community Innovation Lab wasn’t just about discussions—it was about action. Over March 11-12, we explored the question:
How can we create a downtown that stands out as a must-visit destination?
With the Main Street project on the horizon and downtown revitalization efforts underway, this was a perfect opportunity to align Vancouver’s creative minds and imagine a new future for our city’s core. From the waterfront to the historic reserve and Uptown Village, we envisioned an integrated, dynamic, and inclusive downtown experience that serves both residents and visitors.
Collaboration & Innovation in Action
Participants engaged in brainstorming sessions, problem-solving challenges, and pitch presentations to downtown stakeholders. Ideas ranged from placemaking initiatives that bring more art and culture into public spaces to community-driven projects that foster inclusivity and vibrancy.
We were thrilled to see so many changemakers step up with creative solutions, and we are grateful to the downtown stakeholders who attended, listened, and engaged with these ideas. Your support fuels the innovation that will help transform Vancouver’s downtown into a thriving hub.
What’s Next?
This event is just the beginning. The energy and passion that filled the room these past two days prove that there is a strong desire for change and growth in our city. The ideas generated at the Community Innovation Lab will continue to develop, and we look forward to seeing them take shape in the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who participated, pitched ideas, and supported this initiative. Let’s keep the momentum going and build a downtown that is not for us, not to us, but by US!
