Senator Murray Visits Main Street

Senator Murray Visits Main Street

Vancouver’s Downtown Association welcomed U.S. Senator Patty Murray for a tour of the transformative Main Street Promise project. Her visit highlighted the importance of partnership, vision, and the significant impact of federal investment in our community.

Thanks to Senator Murray’s leadership and her efforts to secure funding through the American Rescue Plan Act, long-awaited reconstruction is finally underway. This investment is reshaping Main Street into a safer, more vibrant, and accessible corridor for everyone who lives, works, shops, and explores in the area. The Main Street Promise Infrastructure Project exemplifies economic development in action. Here’s what that looks like:

Supporting Small Business Continuit

Construction can bring disruption, but it doesn’t have to lead to displacement. With proactive strategies and consistent communication, we’re working with small businesses to ensure they can keep their doors open and their customers engaged. Monthly Coffee Corners are held at various small businesses on Main Street. This program brings business owners, residents, and project leaders together at local shops to discuss updates on the Main Street infrastructure project. Help us support local businesses; buy a beverage and join the conversation. Stay informed and share your voice.

Creating a Safer, Better-Connected Business District

With improved infrastructure, modern amenities, and thoughtful design, we’re building a downtown area that is not only beautiful but also supportive of long-term economic health and public safety.

Driving Foot Traffic and Investment

A welcoming Main Street invites more people to experience our local shops, restaurants, and events, sparking new investment and supporting the more than 300 small businesses in the district.

Stewarding Our Downtown for the Next Generation

This initiative is about legacy. We’re creating a downtown that honors its historic character while looking boldly toward the future. During Senator Murray’s visit, we proudly showcased the voices of downtown business owners, including those at Ronald Records and Eryngium Papeterie—just two of the many entrepreneurs who bring life and character to our city center.

We extend our deepest thanks to Senator Patty Murray for her advocacy, and to our partners at the Port of Vancouver USA and the City of Vancouver for their unwavering commitment. Together, we’re bringing the Main Street Promise to life.
