Vancouver Returns to the Grand Floral Parade with “A River Runs Through Us”
We are excited to share that Fieldwork Flowers, in partnership with the Vancouver Downtown Association (VDA), Menashe Properties, Tieton Built, and the City of Vancouver, will proudly represent our city in Portland’s 118th Grand Floral Parade.
After the success of last year’s award-winning float, Vancouver’s first in more than 30 years, our team is back with a fresh new design titled “A River Runs Through Us.” The float will be featured in the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 7, from 10 AM to 12 PM, traveling from Naito Parkway to Southwest 14th Avenue and Taylor Street in downtown Portland.
A Tribute to the Columbia River
This year’s float honors the Columbia River, a powerful and unifying natural feature that links our communities, cultures, and ecosystems. With stylized waves, salmon silhouettes, and a vibrant display of native and locally sourced flowers, the float celebrates the richness and beauty of the river that runs through our region.
Created by Fieldwork Flowers founder Megan Arambul, the float is both foam-free and floral-forward. It features garden-grown blooms including delphinium, berries, and backyard greenery, all harvested locally to highlight the natural abundance surrounding the Columbia.
“Every element was chosen to reflect the Columbia’s beauty,” said Megan. “It is a living thread that connects us all.”
Michael Walker, Executive Director of the Vancouver Downtown Association, added, “This float is more than a creative project. It is a celebration of the shared region we call home and a symbol of the connections that bring us together.”
Supporting Community and Creativity
More than just a beautiful display, this float is the result of local collaboration and a commitment to sustainability. It reflects the values of community connection, environmental responsibility, and regional pride.
The Vancouver Downtown Association is currently accepting donations to support this year’s float and future community-centered initiatives. If you would like to contribute, please visit www.vdausa.org/make-a-donation and designate your donation for the “rose parade float.”
