The Future Is Bright: Overhead Lights on Main
A major milestone in the Main Street Promise infrastructure project is now lighting up downtown Vancouver. Permanent overhead festival lights have been installed along Main Street from 5th Street to 15th Street, adding 30 strands and 600 bulbs across 10 blocks.
The new lights are designed to stay up year-round, bringing warmth and energy to the corridor while creating a welcoming atmosphere for businesses, residents, and visitors. The lights can also color-activate for holidays, special events, and other occasions, giving Main Street a fresh and dynamic look throughout the year.
The overhead festival lights are just one part of Main Street’s new lighting features. Color-changing lighting pillars have also been installed at select intersections, adding another vibrant element to the corridor. Marking major thoroughfares, the pillars are another element included on Main Street to make it brighter and more connected. Together, these improvements mark a Significant step in the Main Street Promise project—the largest investment in Main Street in more than a century—and help bring a brighter, more connected downtown to life.
