New Clock installed on Main St, Vancouver, WA
A historic-style post clock was installed at the southwest corner of East Evergreen Boulevard and Main Street, bringing a distinctive new feature to downtown Vancouver. Standing 13 feet tall and weighing approximately 600 pounds, the clock features four white dial faces framed in black and gold.
The clock was crafted by The Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, one of America’s oldest clock makers, with a history of building clocks dating back to the 1800s.
The clock was generously donated by downtown property owners Todd and Jessy Engblom-Stryker in partnership with the Vancouver’s Downtown Association (VDA).
“As a lifelong Clark County resident and longtime believer in downtown Vancouver, I am excited to partner with VDA on this new landmark,” said Todd Stryker.
The new clock adds a timeless element to a newly revitalized Main Street and reflects the importance of community investment in downtown.
The Main Street Promise project represents a once-in-a-generation transformation of one of downtown Vancouver’s most important corridors. As the major infrastructure work nears completion, new placemaking investments are beginning to take shape along Main Street.
The clock is one of several additions that will help bring new character, energy and gathering places to the corridor.
VDA also thanks the City of Vancouver for incorporating the clock into the recent site improvements near 916 Main.
For VDA, projects like this demonstrate what is possible when downtown property owners, businesses, community partners and the public come together to invest in the future of downtown Vancouver.
Time connects us all—and this new landmark will be part of Main Street for generations to come.
