Broadway Improvement Project
The City of Vancouver is expected to begin construction Feb. 14 on the second phase of the Broadway Corridor Improvement Project, a major project to replace aging utility infrastructure and repave Broadway from 6th Street to 13th Street. Completion is currently expected in summer 2022.
This project will:
- Improve efficiency, reliability and resiliency of utilities serving Broadway Street businesses by installing approximately 1,340 feet of new sanitary sewer main line and 1,600 feet of new water main line.
- Upgrade 18 existing curb ramps where needed to meet current federal requirements for safety and accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act
- Replace landscape islands at 11th and 12th streets
- Repave Broadway Street from curb to curb along its entire length within project boundaries, as well Evergreen Boulevard and 12th Street between Main and C streets.
What to Expect: Catworks Construction of Vancouver is the city’s contractor for this project. Work is being sequenced to help minimize impacts of this project and coordinate with C-TRAN construction also planned for this year. Current plans are for construction to start at the south end of the project, with installation of water mains and hydrants from East 6th to 7th streets, and continue moving north. As always, please remember that construction schedules may change due to weather, supplies and construction conditions.
Construction Hours: Generally 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may continue to 8 p.m. and/or include weekends or nights if needed to manage impacts.
Reminders and More Information: Project information is being mailed to over 500 business owners and residents. Please also watch for door hanger notices to be distributed to businesses along the corridor. The attached flyer contains this information. Stay alert to messages boards and signs for possible traffic changes and closures.
We are working to minimize inconveniences to the extent possible. Please note that businesses along the corridor will be open during construction. Sidewalk and access to businesses will be maintained. The City of Vancouver will encourage residents to continue to visit and support local businesses during construction.
